Maybe we’re stubborn. Maybe we aren’t convinced that the way things are are the way they should be.
Over the course of a lifetime, we’ve had teachers and bosses who became mentors and friends. We've also had bosses and teachers who were no smarter, no wiser, no stronger than us. They just happened upon their position due to some circumstance that had little to no correlation to skill or aptitude.
When we realized our rebellions hurt us more than helped, we started satisfying our disenchantment with more subtle methods of resistance. In school, at work...always doodling. We became addicted to giving the right answer without ever looking up, or interrupting the rhythm of a doodle.
Those small victories fueled us and motivated us to learn, create, rebel. Some bosses and teachers are amazing, and some are just there. But any time we had to play along we added another little ink figure to our armory.
An armory is an array of resources available for a particular purpose. We could say in a doodle the things that would get us fired or suspended if we said them out loud. Class always ends. Meetings adjourn. And we walk out with our notebook full of laughing, swearing, little ink allies.
Our purpose is to fortify your closet of hoodies, joggers, and every athleisure staple with the doodles that helped us blow off steam, smile a little, and exercise our personalities when we felt stifled.
Each doodle on each hoodie, jogger, and complement is ours from a particular time, place, and experience. We hope you will reach for us when you need to feel stronger, more powerful, or just heard.
